Warrington's history dates back to 1717 when it was founded by English colonists who named it after a town in England. The area was used for farming and livestock by the native Muscogee (Creek) people before European settlement. In 1821, Spanish forces attacked and took control of the town during the First Seminole War, and it was eventually abandoned. However, it was reestablished in the late 1800s, with the arrival of the USS Michigan, US Navy's first iron-hulled warship. The Warrington community was established in 1909 and experienced significant growth after World War II.
