Deer Park's history dates back to 1892 when a railroad track was laid out through the area. Later, in 1893, a post office was established, and the community was named Deer Park. From the 1950s to the 1980s, the city's population was relatively stable, with only a few hundred residents. During this time, Deer park faced challenges such as the loss of agricultural land to the expansion of the Houston Ship Channel, voting to incorporate as a city, and oil refineries and other plants nearby.
